Have you ever responded to to the question, how are you? “I am
busy, there is so much to do”
We at HISBONFIRE have been reading the New Testament in 26 weeks, we are in week #19, and this morning I re-read 2 Thessalonians 3, and verse 11-15 really struck me.
“For we hear that there are some who walk among you in a disorderly manner, not working at all, but are busybodies.”
II Thessalonians 3:11 NKJV
- walk disorderly (ataktos)
disorderly, out of ranks (often so of soldiers)
irregular, inordinate, immoderate pleasures
deviating from the prescribed order or rule
- Not working at all (ergazomai)
to work, labour, do work
to trade, to make gains by trading, "do business."
to do, work out
exercise, perform, commit
to cause to exist, produce
to work for, earn by working, to acquire
Does either of those phrases above resonate with you?
How about the last part of verse 11...
**BUT are Busybodies**
The world is constantly telling us to be busy, fill our life with more stuff, more things, more useless, non-meaningful stuff.
periergazomai Busybodies (this word is mentioned one time in the Bible)
to bustle about uselessly, to busy one's self about trifling, needless, useless matters
used apparently of a person officiously inquisitive about other's affairs
Are you going through your FAITH life as busybody?
**Wow, that definition above especially # 1 to bustle about uselessly .... needless, useless matters.
Would GOD see your Christian walk as USELESS or EFFECTIVE?
Are you just going through the motions, with no results?
GOD gives us the opportunity to walk with Him, which allows His Will be done, be a productive member of Christ’s body? Or are you just being a busybody wasting the talents and opportunities God has given you?
Let's say no to being a busybody and focus on being intentional with our Walk!
What are areas in your life where you are being a busybody?
Today you can shift from being a busybody to a Christ focused person!
