Milk or food, what are you consuming?
We have been told and directed to drink milk; it is good for you. For your spiritual life, are you drinking milk or getting solid food? By the statistics, most Christians are still drinking milk.

“For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food. For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.”

Hebrews 5:12 gets to business:
“For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God....”
Do I have to ask where you are in your spiritual maturity? Are you not progressing and simply going through the motions? Have you stopped at salvation and thinking attending church here or there is enough?
The end of verse 12 gives an example that we can relate to and correlate spiritual immaturity vs. spiritual maturity.
“...And you have come to need milk not solid food”
Let that sit for a moment.
How about a small story told way better in audio vs. writing? But we will try!
When you see a baby start to sit up, crawl, and begin to walk, it is progress; it is a blessing to see! Or even a baby wearing diapers, then eventually being potty trained, is a progression, with proud milestones!
What would you say if you saw an 18-year-old, 40-year-old, even a 60-year-old wearing a diaper crawling around saying goo goo gaga?
You would think that was absurd.
So why is it ok to see people in the faith doing the same thing?
Have you thought about that?
How many people do you know right now, maybe even yourself, who or are fully grown men, drinking bottles and walking around with spiritual diapers on (that is a sight I want out of my mind, lol)
God does not mince words; He does not hold back. Gods word is straight and to the point; check out Hebrews 5:13
“For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe.”
Unskilled apeiros
inexperienced in, without experience of
A babe nepios
an infant, little child
a minor, not of age
metaph. childish, untaught, unskilled
Are those words you want to be associated with your faith?
How do you think Jesus would respond to you or anyone else if crawling and drinking milk was their faith walk?
Hebrews 5:14
“Solid Food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern good and evil”
